Full Job Description

Release On Demand (ROD) is a software tool that was built as part of the 2019 E4 Engineering Excellence program that is designed make it easier for teams to release smaller and more frequently to production. It does this by lowering the current procedural barriers and making raising changes easier by automation and upfront quality gates to improve standards.

ROD is currently an opinionated software tool designed to make it trivial to generate production run books & ServiceNow Changes with the click of a button - It has to date generated nearly 1500 production deployments in a short time and has approximately 35 teams and a strong pipeline of teams onboarding.

The future direction of ROD is to build a tiered or scoring based system where app teams are measured against best practices and automation and benefits are made available appropriate to the tier which they belong in, with the options to unlock more as they progress on their maturity journey

ROD is a central component in the drive towards CI/CD and sits with the family of DevOps tools like Lightspeed withing Developer Engineering.

To enable the success of the platform to continue and allow the onboarding of more teams a skilled and passionate developer team intimate with Agile/DevOps and modern deployment practices is needed to enhance the application feature set.,

  • This is a hands-on technical role, delivering front to back capabilities that will be leveraged by thousands of Citi developers in its drive for productivity and simplified processes & tooling

  • You will demonstrate sound engineering principles including following 12-factor methodology and related software/architecture patterns

  • You will have a good understanding of modern CI/CD toolsets and have a continuous improvement mindset that's infectious

  • Be an agile practitioner focussed on delivering small change and MVP based solutions backed by extensive automate testing as well as advocating a continuous improvement

  • Advocate and advance modern software development practices, including privacy and security first principles. Incorporate DevSecOps and SRE best practices, helping engineering teams navigate and architect innovative solutions that are secure, resilient and scalable.

  • Ensure that your team delivers great solutions that users love by maintaining a culture of quality and engineering excellence.

    You have solid experience in an agile development environment with modern programming languages and technologies such as React/Angular, Java/Kotlin and REST base architectures

  • You've thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products / services in a high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly and insist on observability/metrics as a key requirement

  • You are a full-stack senior software engineer with a passion for building modern, cloud-native, fully observable solutions. You strive to build solutions that are valued by developers and have an experience-based understanding of what that means.

  • You have experience with implementing cloud-native applications using solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift and public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and GCP.

  • Generative AI knowledge or experience is welcome but not required
