Full Job Description

As a Software Technical Lead, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will lead a team of software engineers and work hand in hand with the customer on an exciting and strategically important programme of work. Using your experience and expertise you will be providing technical direction and oversight to the team, specifying working practices and ensuring compliance with the appropriate documented standards.

Day-to-day you will:

  • Lead the design, development, deployment and release of software into operational use

  • Lead an established team of software engineers focussing on the end-to-end software engineering lifecycle

  • Define and apply ways of working in GitLab using CI / CD pipelines with formal releases into supported operational service

  • Liaise with a cloud infrastructure team to ensure coherence around ways of working with respect to the use of Infrastructure As Code (IAC)

  • Fully engage in the agile development approach, upskilling in SAFe practices where necessary


  • This role is full-time, 37 hours per week, and can be based from any of our main UK sites, with adaptive working options. There will be a requirement to travel to the customer site in London at least once a month.

    Essential experience of the Software Technical Lead:
  • Demonstrable software engineering lifecycle leadership

  • Experience of working in an agile / SAFe methodology approach

  • Management of the use of Git / GitLab to support software configuration control, agile processes, requirements traceability, testing and acceptance, change management and software support activities

  • Familiarity with cloud-based deployment environments
