Full Job Description

  • To undertake work in Health & Safety, Inquests and Motor Crime, both in Birmingham and nationally.
  • To support specialist lawyers practicing in environmental law, transport regulation and public inquiries as and when needed.
  • To work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Preparing cases, attending client conferences, taking witness statements, attending Court instructing experts, working with insurers.
  • To be able to review, analyse and organise large volumes of materials in order to prepare for evidential hearings.
  • To ensure you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant areas of regulatory law, updates, legislation, case reports etc.
  • To assist with business development initiatives including delivering training, networking and preparation of articles.
  • An opportunity to develop advocacy skills.
  • Work in accordance with client and internal SLAs.

    The candidate should have a passion for regulatory work (both advisory and after the event), and experience in some or all of: Health & Safety, Inquests and Motor Crime. The role offers the opportunity to learn from and work alongside recognised professionals in this area, and to develop oneself within a supportive team environment., You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:
  • A passion for regulatory law is essential.
  • Experience in some or all of: Health & Safety, Inquests and Motor Crime.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative is essential.
  • Experience of criminal practice and process is desirable.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets is essential.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
