Full Job Description

Warwickshire County Council is looking for a Planning and Highways Lawyer to join its in-house legal team and provide expert advice and guidance on planning and highway law matters.

The position will allow you to strike an excellent work-life balance with true agile working. On top of this, you can take advantage of the benefits that come with a non-corporate practice. You will work on a variety of planning and highways related matters, including legal support on major developments, drafting and negotiating all types of planning and highways agreements, advising the Council's planning and highways Officers and Members on general planning law, advising committees and advising on planning enforcement. You will also keep up to date with the latest developments and best practices in planning law.

We have pioneered a system of agile working which provides our lawyers with the opportunity to work within the office environment and remotely. This position is available as a full time (37 hours per week) or as a part time position.

The team is currently made up from lawyers from the public sector, private sector and home-grown talent and we would welcome applicants from a range of legal backgrounds including lawyers who are interested in beginning a new career in local government.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer (2 years' experience gained as a Solicitor or Barrister or Trainee Solicitor or 6 years relevant legal experience for CILEX Lawyers) with experience of drafting s106 agreements, advising on planning enforcement and planning issues generally.
