Full Job Description

We work with labs across the world to understand their specific workflows and needs and develop personalised solutions that range from diagnostic, and drug discovery to synthetic biology. Our LINQ platform allows us to simplify everyday automation tasks, while supporting more advanced paths for specialised workflows, in a fast, flexible, and cost-efficient way.

We are looking for a Solutions Architect whose mission is to lead the technical design and implementation phase of software solutions for our customers on the LINQ lab automation platform. It is your responsibility to ensure that the solutions meet our customer's scientific, technical and business needs. You will collaborate with various stakeholders and development teams to ensure our technical solutions are scalable as well as highly reliable. In this role, you will be expected to regularly work with teams in the UK timezone, and occasionally travel to customer sites or our UK HQ.

Why is this role important at Automata?

This position is crucial for integrating our LINQ Cloud platform with our customers' infrastructure, ensuring reliable data handling across various software platforms. As our business scales, we need a dedicated expert to tackle these challenges.

You will:

  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their technical requirements, translating them into solutions that integrate LINQ workcells with their automation control and data management systems (e.g. LIMS/ELN).

  • Ensure solutions are scalable, high-performing and secure, carrying out analysis of user touch points so customers have a seamless experience when using our integrated systems.

  • Prototype solutions with the customer to gather feedback on proposed designs and to iterate quickly, such as using our platform Python SDK to coordinate operations across multiple LINQ workcells.

  • Create comprehensive technical project documentation including architectural diagrams and software specifications.

  • Create system integration testing plans and oversee deployment processes.

  • Work closely with development teams to implement customer requirements that may not be part of existing product features, whether this is a new type of GUI, or supporting a new type of data connection to an external system.

  • Conduct reviews and workshops with our software delivery teams to ensure solutions are delivered to agreed design and to architectural standards.

  • Collaborate with pre-sales teams in design review sessions to ensure that early stage solutions are both technically sound and align with the company's strategic objectives.

  • Stay closely aligned with product teams to understand our product direction, and provide product feedback with insights gathered from customer projects.

  • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Participate in project planning, estimation, and risk management.

  • Own improvement of solution architecture processes throughout the organisation., We're passionate about the future of Technology and Automation and our growing success is about teams who share our passion.

  • In this role, you have the chance to work in a cutting-edge automation industry. The software we create has a very real impact on people's lives: helping to speed up the development of new treatments for serious illnesses like cancer.

If this sounds like a good fit and has ticked the right boxes, you will love having the opportunity to build something that immediately adds value.
