As a Sous Chef at Number Sixteen, you will play a pivotal role in our kitchen brigade. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and inspire our culinary team, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and presentation are consistently maintained. You will work closely with the Head Chef to execute menus that showcase creativity and seasonal produce, contributing to the hotel's reputation for culinary excellence. Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the kitchen team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Ensure adherence to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards to consistently deliver exceptional dining experiences.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop innovative menus that delight guests and showcase the best of seasonal ingredients.
- Oversee kitchen operations during service periods, maintaining efficiency and productivity while upholding food safety and sanitation standards.
- Mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support to facilitate their professional growth and development.
- Act as a liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house teams, fostering open communication and ensuring a seamless flow of service.
- Manage inventory and stock levels, minimizing waste and optimising cost efficiency without compromising on quality.
- Uphold Firmdale Hotels' commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing practices in all aspects of food preparation and procurement.
Proven experience in a similar role within a high-quality culinary environment. - A passion for food and a keen understanding of culinary trends and techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on consistently delivering flawless plates.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve excellence.
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities, essential for coordinating kitchen activities and collaborating with colleagues.
- A collaborative mind-set, willing to work closely with colleagues across departments to achieve shared goals.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the demands of the business.
