We are looking for someone to step into the pivotal role of Southern Specification Manager, where you'll lead a dynamic team of Project Specification Managers & Specification Support ensuring a consistent and cohesive approach to specification within the region. What's the Mission? As the Southern Specification Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage a cohesive team of Project Specification Managers to achieve consistent performance aligned with divisional goals.
  • Identify and recruit talented individuals who can deliver a consultative sales approach to our specifier customer base.
  • Provide regular training sessions to enhance the team's technical knowledge and product expertise.
  • Set specification targets for the team, ensuring the identification and conversion of new project opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prestigious specifier accounts and local authorities.
  • Oversee the operations of the Marshalls Design Space, ensuring smooth daily functionality and up-to-date marketing materials.

    The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a leadership role, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate a team. You will articulate the link between demand creation strategy, specification, and the commercial success of the business, emphasizing higher margins and improved product mix. Your gravitas will enable you to operate effectively at a senior level with specifying stakeholders, contractors, and clients, influencing decisions positively.
  • To be successful in this position, you will need the following competencies:
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and facilitate group dynamics, with conflict resolution skills when needed
  • Strong analytical skills to break down problems systematically, anticipate obstacles, and make logical conclusions

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain friendly relationships and networks that support work-related goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Fast Quote, CRM, and other IT systems.
  • A deep understanding of linking specification strategy to commercial success, paired with exceptional negotiation and presentation skills.
  • An eye for detail, excellent time management, and the ability to communicate with authority across all levels
  • A proactive approach to gathering information and seeking multiple perspectives before making decisions
  • Willingness to go above and beyond expectations, identifying and acting on opportunities to enhance results and mitigate issues
  • Effective organizational skills to define objectives, allocate resources, set priorities, and develop contingency plans to overcome challenges
