Full Job Description

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the University of Leeds community by nurturing a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. This will directly support the University's aspirations to be recognised as one of the top universities in Europe for student entrepreneurship by 2030.
The University of Leeds has a national reputation for student enterprise, having won a series of awards for its outstanding initiatives, including Spark and the Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Studies. The University now seeks to build on this success through a new phase in developing student enterprise opportunity for all students. This role forms a key part of this ambition.
You will play a central role in shaping the future of student enterprise through developing the "Discover" programme which creates opportunities for students across the University to take their first steps in developing impactful new ideas and initiatives, practically developing their entrepreneurship and leadership skills and raising their awareness of opportunities for creating new ventures.
You will build on our initial "Discover" programme to develop and steer a range of initiatives to drive the engagement of students across all faculties, to develop their skills, confidence and knowledge to develop new ideas, work with other students across disciplines on enterprising initiatives, ensure accessibility for all students and support them in developing new ideas which may be taken forward into the existing business start-up service, Spark.
Reporting to the Student Enterprise and Incubation Manager, you will work within the established Spark enterprise team in developing this new programme. You will be instrumental in designing professional development programmes, such as the Enterprise Champions initiative which supports staff in signposting students to "Discover" student enterprise opportunities and linking into the University's Student Opportunities and Futures Strategy. You will work alongside professionals to help design and deliver programmes which will change the mindset of students and staff towards entrepreneurship.
As a new programme you will be able to rapidly assess and alter provision in response to student, staff and industry feedback and evaluate the impact of the work undertaken by the students and communicate this impact locally, nationally and internationally as appropriate.

In summary, this role as Spark Discover Enterprise Officer at the University of Leeds offers a dynamic, impactful, and growth-oriented opportunity. It allows you to help shape entirely new co-curricular programming, make a difference in students' lives, and expand your skills and network within the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. It's a role that combines professional development with personal satisfaction and a chance to shape the future of student entrepreneurship at the University.
This position is funded by philanthropic donations. You will report on the success of the programme, via the University Advancement team, to a range of donors and supporters who have an interest in enterprise.
