Full Job Description

Based in beautiful Westerham, Kent, Valence School is a local authority maintained school, supporting students aged from 4 to 19 with complex medical needs. We are looking to recruit nurses to meet the needs of both day and residential students.

We are seeking a Special School Nurse who would welcome the opportunity to be part of an exciting venture, helping to shape a revised model of practice delivery within our school. As part of a wider health team, you will enjoy working collaboratively to find solutions and demonstrate empathy and understanding and who is uncompromising in their desire to attain the best care for our students.

Supported by a team of Healthcare Assistants, our nurses will deliver staff training, and assess levels of staff competence, developing a robust programme of teaching and training. Nurses will contribute to the assessment of students on admission and following any change in needs, will work with external agencies to facilitate specialist clinics and immunisation programmes, support the development and review of student care plans, manage medication within the school and maintain student's emergency protocols.

You will be confident in the understanding of evidence-based practice and will be able to prioritise your work to provide direct care, assessment and support when required.

Permanent - 0.6-1.0 WTE Monday to Friday - Term Time + 2 weeks (41 working weeks + 6.8 weeks paid holiday)

Flexibility will be considered - 8 hour shifts (including a 30 minute lunch break) on a set rota pattern, including morning, day, evening and school day shifts between the hours of 7am-9pm
