We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team and make a positive impact on the lives of our patient
This post joins our well-established STAR team as inpatient Specialist Occupational Therapist, working as a skilled practitioner. The post holder undertakes independent specialist assessment and provides a high standard occupational therapy service to patients in ED, AMU and Cavell Ward., The post holder carries their own specialist caseload of patients within a defined clinical area, which may include complex conditions. As a Band 6 occupational therapist you will benefit from peer support and supervision programmes as well as access to multi-professional clinical specialists in a range of clinical areas. You will have opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills and knowledge.
You will also be encouraged to be involved in service development, research and audit, and supervise both students and junior staff, developing your teaching and leadership skills.
The multi-disciplinary therapy team provides a high-quality therapy service over 7 days. You will be required to participate in a weekend rota aligned to your clinical area which involves working a weekend shift once approximately every 6 weeks with compensatory rest days.
This is a lead role with line management responsibilities for Band 5's within the Team and is responsible for the supervision and training of students, rotational staff and other therapy assistants.
The post holder is integral to patient flow through the hospital and ensuring timely discharge by ordering and monitoring of equipment maintenance and the environment, as well as supporting the team with administrative support vital for timely patients discharge, such as completing onward referrals to health and social care partners.

St George's Hospital is a major acute hospital that offers very specialist care for complex injuries and illnesses, including trauma, neurology, cardiac care, renal transplantation, cancer care and stroke. It has a helipad which opened in spring 2014 and the work of its emergency department can currently be seen on Channel 4's '24 Hours in A&E' programme. The hospital also provides all the usual care you would expect from a local NHS district general hospital.
