Full Job Description

We are happy to announce that an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and responsive individual to join our integrated Think Family Safeguarding Team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust as a Specialist Advisor for Safeguarding Children and Maternity., The post holder will support and facilitate staff in clinical and community areas to ensure children and families welfare is priority and they are safe. This will require a Think Family safeguarding approach, supporting staff with safeguarding cases and liaising with multi agency professionals. The post holder will identify learning, and develop training resources to support staff, and support on mandatory safeguarding training courses.

The post holder will support on compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines and will also be supporting with providing safeguarding supervision to staff.

The successful candidate will be expected to keep their safeguarding knowledge and training up to date to be able to provide that expert knowledge and visibility to staff.

The post holder will have excellent communication, organisational skills including the ability to demonstrate dynamic innovative behaviours and strong leadership to ensure that safeguarding advice/support is delivered within the trust.

Experience and knowledge of safeguarding children and maternity within a healthcare setting is essential together with an ability to influence and develop practice and policy in this area.

The post holder will support with high level of safeguarding decision making, contribute towards a multi professional approach in managing complex safeguarding cases and to be a resource for health care professionals.

The successful candidate will be innovative, enthusiastic and support the named nurse for safeguarding children and Named midwife.

A degree of flexibility is required within this role to support the wider Safeguarding agenda, to work in close collaboration with other named professionals to ensure a cohesive safeguarding service.
