Full Job Description

The post holder undertakes a range of technical duties dealing with patients of all ages from a variety of specialties and will take an active role in the running of the department. They will provide a high quality service to patients, hospital staff and any other person their duties bring them into contact with. The post holder will be expected to train, mentor and support junior staff. They will be expected to act independently whilst running clinics and to act as a clinical resource within the department., 1. Take an active role in the day to day running of the department including supervision of staff and planning of daily workload 2. Participate in departmental teaching of students in accordance with individual training programmes 3. Ensure adequate supplies of stock and non-stock items to maintain the needs of the department 4. Ensure that all tests are performed according to national and departmental guidelines and protocols 5. Give clear explanations of procedures to patients and present a friendly, helpful and welcoming environment to all visitors to the department at all times. 6. Clean, sterilise and maintain all departmental equipment in accordance with Trust policies 7. Be aware of and comply with health and safety policies at all times 8. Maintain accurate record keeping at all times 9. Assist with administrative and clerical duties when required 10. Any other duties and new procedures that may be appropriate to the post in discussion with your line manager, The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford is looking for an enthusiastic band 6 Cardiac Physiologist to join our dynamic team of 6 consultants and 21 Cardiac Physiologists You will be encouraged to progress in the field of Cardiology with the opportunity to work towards sitting the BHRS and / or IBHRE examination receiving mentoring in support of achieving this. Our department supports a State of the art Alia Cath lab, the first one to be installed in the UK. Implanting more than 390 devices, both simple and complex, (including S-ICDs) offering MRI conditional devices and more recently have begun conduction system pacing. This busy Cath lab also performs more than 500 diagnostic angiograms per year. We have a well estiablished Physiologist lead device follow up clinic running 5 days a week and a rapidly expanding home monitoring service A regular EP service is in operation performing Diagnostic EP studies as well as Atrial flutter, AV nodal, AVNRT & AVRT ablations, providing excellent training opportunites. There are plans to further expand the EP service In additon to this we have anEcho department operating over 3 echo labs, where TTEs, TOEs, Stress echos and bubble studies are performed,. The candidate will also be required to rotate through non-invasive areas. This post is an ideal opportunity for a physiologist who would like to develop skills across the Cardiology field and work flexibly.

BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology or equivalent knowledge through work experience and post grad diploma or competence based assessment in relevant field Desirable

  • BTEC HNC in science (MPPM)
  • SCST Part I / II
  • Intermediate Life Support
  • BHRS or IBHRE accreditation
  • Knowledge Essential
  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience within the field of cardiology
