Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiac Physiology team in ABUHB. It's an exciting time for ABUHB with our new £350m Specialist and Critical Care Centre, the Grange University Hospital. This purpose built hospital forms a key part of our Clinical Futures strategy to modernize health services in our Health Board. It is also an exciting time for Cardiac Physiology within ABUHB with the inception of a complex device service providing implant and follow up care. The service also offers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations and therapies. These include Physiologist led and Medically supervised Exercise Tolerance testing, HUTT, Ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring and event recorders, Myocardial Perfusion Imaging, Pacemaker and loop recorder implant, (including follow-up), and PCI angioplasty.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual at Band 6 level to support the provision of a high quality service. A team player is essential for this role. The successful applicants will ideally be an independent practitioner competent a cross a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures within Cardiac Rhythm Management including complex devices. There will be an expectation to work across our Health Board sites as necessary. You may also be expected to take part in on-call rota in the future., The post holder will be responsible for performing a wide range of clinical cardiac physiological tests including complex devices. The post holder will be working towards having the necessary knowledge to interpret clinical data and to provide factual reports and clinical interpretation within their own patient workload. They should have achieved, or be working towards attaining their BHRS/IBHRE accreditation and will be supported to achieve this aim.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
The post holders will be an independent practitioner, or will be working towards the position of independent practitioner working on their own patient workloads. They will follow Health Board, Occupational and Professional Guidelines and will contribute to the development of departmental procedures and services within their own specialist area. There will be direct supervision and referral to the departmental manager in matters relating to patient safety or in highly complex non-clinical issues may be necessary. Performance and objectives will be reviewed by the departmental manager and lead physiologist at annual appraisal.
The successful applicant will possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology in addition to being RCCP/AHCS registered and will be expected to gain BHRS/IBHRE accreditation.
