Full Job Description

This exciting role will allow you to develop your skills in a more specialist area, within a friendly supportive team at Queens Hospital Burton. The role will include training in Critical care to enable you to support the Advanced Pharmacist - Critical Care at Queens hospital providing cover for annual leave and days off. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to rotate through other clinical areas at Queens hospital, with an emphasis on support to the surgical division, and the nutrition team.

You will receive training in parenteral nutrition (if needed) to enable you to attend the weekly multi-disciplinary nutrition ward round.

Your knowledge will enable you to support the trainee and band 6 pharmacists and there will be the opportunity to become a mentor and potentially a trainee pharmacist tutor if you are interested.

If you are not already an Independent prescriber, we will support you to complete the course.

Main duties of the job

To provide support and cover for the Advanced pharmacist - Critical care.

To become a member of the nutrition team, undertaking multidisciplinary ward rounds and ensuring that patient are prescribed and supplied with appropriate parenteral nutrition.

To support the ward clinical service at Queens Hospital to ensure safe delivery of medicines across the whole hospital. Additionally, you may be asked to support the service at Samuel Johnson Hospital (SJH) in Lichfield and Sir Robert Peel hospital (SRP) in Tamworth.

To support the training of trainee and junior pharmacists through mentorship. There may be the opportunity, if interested to become a pre-registration tutor.

To support the weekend and on call service for Queens, SJH and SRP. All pharmacists are expected to be part of this rota.

There may be an opportunity for some cross site working at Derby hospital, Additionally, some training will take place at Derby to ensure a wide range of patients are seen.
