Full Job Description
We are very proud of our pharmacist development programmes, having a proven track record in developing junior pharmacists to become excellent Advanced Specialist Pharmacists (Band 8a) and other roles.
Our development programmes include a band 7 to 8 pathway which aligns with the national Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum. The rotations include Acute Medicine, Critical Care, Haematology/Oncology, Paediatrics, Antimicrobial stewardship, Neurology, Cardiothoracics, medicines information, formulary and medicines Safety. All rotations are 6 months in length and include clinical and dispensary commitments plus speciality project and development work.
Our pharmacy department has excellent links with the Keele University Pharmacy and Medical Schools and there are opportunities to gain experience in delivering formal and informal teaching to pharmacy and medical students and to undertake research.
We support every one of our pharmacists with opportunities to explore and develop their own individual interests as part of building their own, unique, career portfolio. Training time is allocated for a wide range of courses and opportunities for example all band 7 rotational specialist pharmacists have been supported to complete the UKCPA Critical Care module within the past 12 months and a number have undertaken the Trust's Gateway to Management and Gateway to Leadership courses.
The band 7 rotational specialist pharmacist rotation is complimented by an extensive junior pharmacist rotation and our Band 7 to 8a development pathway. We are supportive of flexible working (part time hours can be considered) and although previous postgraduate learning is desirable all our band 7 rotational specialist pharmacists are encouraged and supported to study for a diploma and prescribing qualification if not already obtained.
