Full Job Description

The post holder will be based within Haringey Speech and Language Therapy service. This part-time post is for 0.8 wte (30 hours per week) but this may taken as 1 part-time post or split across other roles within the Haringey Speech and Language Therapy team.

30 hours per week based in primary (3-11 years) and secondary (11-18 years) departments of Blanche Nevile Special School for Deaf Children. The school provides a sign bilingual, child-centred education. The school is co-located with 2 mainstream schools and work in close partnership at all levels. The Speech and Language Therapy is delivered both individually and within the class environment and works closely with the MDT

Key responsibilities are to carry a personal clinical caseload maintaining a high level of professional competence as well as advising/training carers and school staff on clinical issues. These may be related to effective communication strategies/good communication environments. In addition the post holder will demonstrate a good level of clinical expertise and participate in continuing professional development to maintain and further develop specialist knowledge and clinical practice.

The post holder will have onsite supervision from senior specialist Speech and language Therapists skilled in Deafness.

We are looking for a B5 or B6 SLT to join the Haringey Children's Speech and Language TherapyDeafness Team.

The role is a Band 5-6 run through. We welcomeapplications from current Band 6 and Band 5 SLTs, or newly qualified SLTs who areinterested in developing a specialism in working with deaf children.

Additional support and training will be offered for newly qualified or less experienced therapists. Once skills, experience and competencies are achieved, the post can progress to 0.8 wte Band 6 permanent post.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated SLT to join our large team of specialists. You will gain new skills, experiences and support the deaf children and young people, their families, and school staff. We have a strong focus on working with families and achieving the best outcomes for the deaf children and young people.

The post is based in Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children, which provides a sign bilingual approach across their nursery, primary and secondary departments. We work closely with school staff and the MDT.
