Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, personable, and motived dietitian to work in inpatient and outpatient settings. You will see patients within the Diabetes Super Six Model of Care, including inpatient diabetes and complex type 1 patients. You will also be trained as a DAFNE educator to provide carb counting courses. You will work closely with the diabetes and ward based MDT. You will have opportunity to support our award-winning young adult diabetes service and renowned insulin pump service, and provide education to colleagues both within and outside the organisation. You will work with senior Diabetes Dietitians, Specialist Nurses, consultants and rest of the MDT. We participate in local and national research eg poster presentations at Diabetes UK, which you will be able to be involved with. The inpatient aspect of the role will involve ward-based work, managing a caseload for diabetes wards, attending board rounds and MDT meetings. You may also be required to provide cross cover for the wider dietetic inpatient service as required. You will provide supervision for junior staff and support our renowned student training program. We welcome applications from all with diabetes or general medical experience as training will be offered as required. We will also consider an Annex 21 training post.Main duties of the job This is an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in a variety of areas. This post requires a proactive approach where you contribute to innovation, service development and audit. You will be supported with your personal development goals and have regular clinical supervision and peer support. You will work closely day to day with a range of Medical and Surgical Multi-disciplinary Teams and be involved in student training and development.

Good communication skills are essential and clinically, you will provide dietetic service to inpatients and outpatients,

  • BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics or postgraduate Diploma
  • Current registration with HCPC
  • Membership of BDA or equivalent professional indemnity
  • Desirable criteria
  • Introductory level Clinical Supervisory Skills Training, Broad clinical experience in at least 3 clinical areas, including medical and surgical patients
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working
  • Experience and evidence of continuing professional development
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of training student dietitians
  • Experience of conducting audit, While able to work independently, ability to recognise own limitations and access advice and information appropriately, Communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information
