Full Job Description
The role will include seeing patients who require complex dietetic input to optimise their nutritional status through oral and enteral feeding routes, including parenteral nutrition. Strong clinical skills and an ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the challenges experienced by patients undergoing surgery . We are looking for a good team player and an ability to manage a busy caseload. A high standard of personal organisation and time management are essential. You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills and have some experience of MDT working.
We are a research active Therapy Service with strong links to the Trust Research and Innovation Committee and local HEIs. We are continuing to develop and support local clinical research activity and will support staff to develop clinical academic careers. Therapies Services has a professional skills development programme that complements clinical knowledge and skills learning which staff are encouraged to attend.
Please give us a call or come for an informal visit if you have any questions about the post., To work as part of the Dietitians Department in providing a quality dietetic service to inpatients. The post-holder will manage their workload, in conjunction with the wider team:
+ Manage a caseload of surgical inpatients
+ Participate in MDT working, meetings, audit and research
+ Support with cover for Critical Care
As part of the dietetic services, the post-holder will:
+ Participate in supervision of student dietitians on clinical placement.
+ Support supervision of band 5 dietitians and dietetic support workers.
+ Cover clinical workload of other dietitians, e.g. during annual leave.
+ Undertake normal activities of the department - MDT working, projects, meetings, service developments, audits & research, CPD, developing resources, training other health professionals, lead/participate in national awareness events (Nutrition & Hydration week, Dietitians week), etc

We are excited to be in the position to offer a band 6 post working within our inpatient team. The work will involve covering our surgical wards under the guidance of our Band 7 surgical dietitian. There is also the opportunity to gain experience on our critical care ward, with support from the Band 7 dietitian. There may be the opportunity to cover an outpatient clinic.
Worthing hospital is located 5 minutes walk from the sea and the vibrant town centre. The South Downs are close by and we have excellent links to London and Brighton.
This vacancy is full time , but we may consider a job share dependent on applicants.
