Full Job Description

To be responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to critical care patients; following evidence based practice, being an active multidisciplinary team member, educator, developing nutrition policies and guidelines, participating in audit and research related to critical care in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service., The Specialist Dietitian for Critical Care will be responsible for providing a highly specialist dietetic service to critical care patients. This role is well suited to a band 5 or band 6 dietitian with an interest in working with critical care patients across our general, neuro and cardiothoracic ICUs at St Georges Hospital.
The successful applicant will be well supported by the current critical care and major trauma dietitians with direct clinical supervision from a band 7 dietitian.
The caseload will primarily be patients on our cardiothoracic ICU, but there will also be the opportunity to gain experience in providing second line cover to all patients admitted to our general & neuro intensive care and patients admitted on the major trauma pathway. There will also be an opportunity to gain experience in tube care, NG tube placement, bedside NJ tube placement and indirect calorimetry.
