Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Newborn Screening Team as a Newborn Screening Specialist.
The West Midlands Newborn Bloodspot Screening laboratory is based at Birmingham Children's Hospital. The role will involve delivering the Newborn Bloodspot Screening results to families of babies identified with a suspected/unconfirmed Newborn Screening result. This is a respected service, as we are able to offer face to face communication of the results to families.
The role will also support teaching and education sessions in the theory and practice of Newborn Bloodspot Screening for health professionals across the region and focusing on improving quality.
Applications are invited from individuals with an interest in Newborn screening and delivery of difficult information. The post holder will require effective communication skills. This is an exciting opportunity for Health Visitors and Nurses looking to broaden their experience and work alongside the Newborn Screening team., To deliver Newborn Screening results to families identified with a suspected/unconfirmed Newborn Screening result.
Provide nursing teams, Primary Health Care Teams, community agencies and hospital staff, with relevant information on the positive screening result, to allow appropriate care to be provided.
Offer teaching and support to other staff members throughout the trust and within the West Midlands Newborn screening network.
