Full Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and innovative Specialist Grade / GP Practitioner with an interest in Emergency Medicine to work in the Emergency Department at Royal Derby Hospital. This role may suit a General Practitioner looking for a new challenge The successful applicant will work as an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, comprising of nursing staff, advanced clinical practitioners, junior and senior clinical fellows and IMT doctors along with our substantive Consultant Physicians in Emergency Medicine. SDEC is the provision of same day care for patients who would otherwise be admitted to hospital. Under this care model, patients presenting at hospital with relevant conditions can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed and treated without being admitted to a ward, and if clinically safe to do so will go home the same day their care is provided. You will have the opportunity to manage a range of acute medical problems and to develop your clinical leadership within these areas. This includes developing medical SDEC specific clinical pathways to complement those already in operation and play a key role in the interface between Acute Medicine and primary care., The major roles of the successful candidate will include (but not be limited to):

  • Working alongside other members of the Emergency Medicine multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality healthcare in the Emergency Department
  • An Interface role between primary care and secondary care looking at how we can move towards frictionless care
  • Developing clinical pathways which span the primary care/secondary care interface
  • Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement within the Emergency Department
  • Contributing to the ongoing education of the multidisciplinary team within the Emergency Department
