Full Job Description
We are looking for a Healthcare Scientist with experience in Cellular Pathology or Genomics join our team
You will be involved in the provision of the molecular service within the department. This will include analysis, interpretation and reporting of results.
You will be prepared to work flexibly between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
Extended day working is required to ensure cover until 6pm. Saturday working may be required
This is a fixed term role for 12 months. There may be the opportunity to extend the term., You will have HCPC Registration as a Biomedical or Clinical Scientist or be registered with the AHCS as a Genetic Technologist.
You will have experience of working in Cellular Pathology and/or Molecular Pathology.
This is highly specialised scientific role in the development and provision of a range of specialist tests for the diagnosis, monitoring and predictive profiling of patients with benign and malignant disorders. You will be in a specialised scientific role to co-ordinate, analyse, interpret, and report (where appropriate) a range of specialist investigations conducted from within and outside of the department.
You will use acquired specialist knowledge of the latest biomedical techniques such as molecular technology and complex instrumentation alongside more traditional manual methods of investigation such as Immunocytochemistry. You will be responsible for the delegated tasks involved in the delivery of a molecular pathology service that enables high standards of patient care.
You will be ensuring that the Department meets cancer targets and you will need to have experience of working within a team, The Specialist Healthcare Scientist in Cellular and Molecular Pathology acts in a specialised scientific role in the development and provision of a range of specialist tests for the diagnosis, monitoring and predictive profiling of patients with benign and malignant disorders.
They act in a specialised scientific role to co-ordinate, analyse, interpret, and report (where appropriate) a range of specialist investigations conducted from within and outside of the department
Part of a team responsible for the processing all the samples received each day, this includes performing a wide range of tests.
Help to maintain the turnaround times for all patient samples.
Analyse and interpret laboratory results and take appropriate actions in line with laboratory policies and procedures
Assist in the participation in appropriate internal, regional, national and international quality control schemes relevant to the specialist service.
Participate in the development of the service to include the introduction of new techniques and pathways
