An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Infant Feeding Team to appoint a Band 6 Specialist Infant Feeding Midwife to support the Specialist Infant Feeding Coordinator and Infant Feeding Team. You will provide support to develop and implement infant feeding policies and practice within the Trust, in-line with UNICEF requirements and to meet national and local breastfeeding targets and help to address health inequalities. You should be passionate and have experience in breastfeeding practice and management. You will work as part of team dedicated to improving breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates, supporting Trust staff to develop their knowledge and ensuring that babies receive continuous good feeding support in both the Acute and community settings., As the successful candidate for this position, you will have an important role working within the Infant Feeding Team to support the development and strategic development of infant feeding initiatives both nationally and locally. Influencing infant feeding practice both within the hospital and community environments. You will provide expert clinical care and offer infant feeding support in complex situations with families and colleagues. Referring as necessary to community partnerships and other disciplines. You will support the Infant Feeding Coordinator with the maintenance and development of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) across maternity and neonatal services and the wider Trust. Reflecting the philosophy of BFI throughout midwifery care and local maternity policies. Providing support to regularly Audit staff and mothers and ensuring we meet the recommendations to maintain our BFI accreditation. You will support the Infant Feeding Frenulotomy Service. Undertake training if necessary to be able to review and divide restricted lingual frenulum in a clinical setting. Providing families with the relevant information to support them to make decisions about feeding and the care pathway their baby is receiving.
