Full Job Description
The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:
- To provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters relating to antimicrobials, antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases.
- To develop, evaluate and optimise antimicrobial surveillance systems to provide assurance of Trust antimicrobial prescribing.
- To actively contribute to the development, promotion and monitoring of written policies/guidelines for the use of antimicrobials in general and specialist areas within the Trust
- To provide education to prescribers, pharmacists, nursing staff e.g. at induction and regular intervals, on the prudent use of antimicrobials
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds (Infectious diseases, Antimicrobial stewardship, infective endocarditis, bone and joint and Clostridioides difficile), delivering and promoting high quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
- Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship in conjunction with the Principal Pharmacist.
- To provide support to the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service as required.
- Act as a pharmacist independent prescriber to optimise the care of patients within infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Ensure a high level of clinical pharmacy input to the care of patients within infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship. Providing interface and discharge liaison and support.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic clinical pharmacist with vision, excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills to join the Pharmacy Infection Team at King's College Hospital, based at the Denmark Hill site. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual in infection and antimicrobials to join our Team. The post holder will work to ensure the continued provision and development of high quality, comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to patients, influencing senior managers and clinicians with respect to antimicrobials and stewardship. The successful candidate will lead on delivering initiatives to promote effective antimicrobial prescribing and stewardship. The post holder will work closely with the Principal Infection Pharmacist, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacy and Infection Prevention Control teams, clinicians and nurses in developing the infection and antimicrobial clinical pharmacy service across the Trust and providing high level patient care to a diverse group of patients. This post provides flexible and challenging opportunities for personal and professional development, both clinically and managerially. The successful applicant will be expected to be a team player with clinical experience, excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.
