Full Job Description

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in agreement with the SENDCo. This will be dependent on the teaching commitments and timetabling, which is subject to change every academic year. Attendance at INSET and Open Mornings is also required.

Salary: £10,755 per annum pro-rata inclusive of holiday pay (£28,525 FTE)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only (35 weeks per year)

We are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant (Visual Impairment) to provide mentoring, organisational support and a range of dedicated interventions to support the learning of a visually impaired student. This will facilitate equality of access to high-quality learning opportunities and ensure full access, participation and improved learning outcomes for the student.

The successful candidate will be a highly committed, creative and energetic practitioner who will be able to work with the identified student in order to help overcome barriers to learning as a result of their visual impairment. They will possess excellent communication skills with teachers, parents and business staff and build an effective working relationship with the student. A flexible and patient approach is vital.

The Specialist Learning Support Assistant will ensure that teaching materials and resources are adapted, modified using the correct font and size, to support/develop the student. The knowledge and use of technology, software applications (Snipping Tool) and specialist equipment are essential to promote a positive learning experience, whilst ensuring full access to the National Curriculum and classroom activities.
