An opportunity has arisen in our "Think Family" team for a Safeguarding Children's Nurse Specialist.

Whipps Cross Hospital model for Safeguarding is under the umbrella term of "Think Family" we firmly believe that safeguarding is everyone's business, and the focus should be family rather than the individual only.

The safeguarding children's and adult's team are co-located in a 'Think Family' office space which includes the Hospital IDVA, St Giles Youth Workers and Learning Disability team which allows the delivery of Think Family approach.

We are looking for a Safeguarding Children's Nurse Specialist Safeguarding.

You will have knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance relating to safeguarding children. You will need to be able to know your limitation and seek advice and guidance on any complex issues from within the Think Family team and via the wider Barts Health team.

You will work closely with the Think Family Lead Nurse, Named Nurse for Adult Safeguarding and Maternity Safeguarding lead. You will manage a small team of children safeguarding advisors. However, as the Think Family team is our approach, the management style for the whole team is non-hierarchical. It is expected everyone works collaboratively, respectfully and compassionately.

The post holder, as part of the Safeguarding Children Team, will support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in meeting requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023). This work will incorporate the key elements of the Children Acts 1989 and 2004 and the National Service Framework for Children, Young people and Maternity Services (2004) and the Care Quality Commission Core Standard 7 (Safeguarding people who use services from abuse).
