Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse specialist in Pulmonary Hypertension in the PVDU department at Royal Papworth Hospital. The PVDU are looking to appoint an experienced nurse to join the PH specialist nurses to support and deliver care to patients with Pulmonary Hypertension. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously to support this patient group and the MDT. The role involves caring for PH patients through all stages of the PH patient pathway.

The role will cover all aspects of working as a nurse specialist in the field of Pulmonary Hypertension, full training will be provided. This is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in Pulmonary Hypertension and wishes to broaden their knowledge and expert skills.

Informal visits are welcomed and any enquires may be directed to Nicola Speed, Lead nurse in PVDU or Samantha Ali Clinical nurse specialist in Pulmonary Hypertension ext 638826, Take responsibility for ensuring a high standard of nursing care is delivered to patients acting as an educator and advocate when required.

Promote the privacy and dignity of patients at all times

Support the team lead in developing care for patients using the service

Utilise database to update patient information

Participate regularly in the management of the database and develop knowledge of the system so that in the absence of a research colleague support can be given to ongoing output requirements

Act as a specialist resource and point of contact for patients their relatives and health care professionals who may require help and advice.

Liaise with referring centres to update patient pathway information

Participate in holding the bleep for the service

Maintain accurate record keeping consistent with legislation, policies and procedures in line with NMC Code of Conduct.

Communicate in an efficient and effective manner with all staff, patients, visitors and external sources, identifying any problems and dealing with them in a tactful manner.

Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to care planning. Ensure meeting outcomes are carefully actioned and recorded.

Develop communication skills in dealing with challenging conversations about surgical risk and life limiting disease
