Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist to join the Children & Young People's Eating Disorder Service in Cornwall. The team has seen huge expansion over the past 3 years, including the introduction of a Community Outreach and Support Team (COAST) who work with families to keep young people out of hospital., Provision of occupational therapy to a defined caseload of patients within the Children & Young People's Eating Disorders Service, using evidence-based practice, Occupational Therapy process and client centred principles.

To contribute to OT assessment and planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of patients within your care. You will need to interpret information relevant to the patient's condition/progress, identify problems and patient needs, setting realistic goals.

You will need to have excellent organisational skills combined with experience of working in mental health services. You will need a valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to different locations.

You will be responsible for leading and organising groups, in conjunction with other members of the team and our clinical leads.

To contribute to the development of the Trust Occupational Therapy Service and best practice initiatives.

This will be the first dedicated OT role within our service, so there is opportunity to develop the post. The successful applicant would be working under the supervision of one of our Clinical Leads, who is an occupational therapist by professional background with over 10 years of experience working in eating disorder services.

In response to feedback from our service users, the post holder would be required to work Saturdays, in order to run our group programs, alongside our specialist nurses and support workers within COAST.

We are a dynamic, supportive team of multi-disciplinary staff. We offer a friendly working environment where you can develop your clinical and interpersonal skills. CPD is actively encouraged and supported through regular supervision/appraisal and staff training. This would be an ideal post for progression from a Band 5 position, or for an experienced Band 6 to gain skills working in a different team.

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
