Full Job Description

This would be an exciting opportunity for an experienced band 6 or current band 7 Occupational Therapist with a keen interest in working within critical care and developing within this role. St Mary's Hospital is one of four major trauma units within London and therefore our critical care unit involves a complex adult trauma caseload. Our occupational therapists are involved in a wide range of these patients care and consequently have the opportunity to work with head and spinal cord injury patients, complex orthopaedic patients and long-term patients with ICU acquired weakness and ongoing rehabilitation needs. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your specialist skills, knowledge and leadership working within the critical care therapy team with other experienced occupational therapists. You will also be supported by a band 8a clinical specialist occupational therapist based in critical care with a wealth of clinical knowledge and who is immensely
enthusiastic and passionate about developing the profession in this area., + To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care and undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
+ To provide comprehensive and specialist therapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a range of highly complex presentations, by utilising advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based knowledge, investigative and analytical skills and specialist assessment techniques.
+ To plan and organise time efficiently and effectively with regard to patient management and use of time. To be accountable for the designated area of work.
+ To flexibly manage responsibilities for own complex caseload, service delivery and teaching commitments. To decide priorities for own work, balancing other patient related and professional demands and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the teams as a whole.
+ To employ excellent presentation skills to promote multidisciplinary and interagency liaison and collaborative practice to a broad range of audiences, including other professionals and users.
+ Promote a culture of research awareness, research preparedness and activity in the team.
+ To ensure own and direct reports' Personal Development Plans (PDP) are in line with therapies and trust objectives.
