Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Trauma Orthopaedic Therapy Team in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

The Trust is a regional centre for major trauma, elective & spinal injuries, amputees, limb reconstruction & bracing for conservative fracture management. The successful post holder will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge treating patients through the above pathways in the inpatient and outpatient bracing clinic settings.

The post holder will work alongside a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist and experienced multidisciplinary team. There will be opportunity for development of skills and to contribute to the development of services for the future, Delivery of Occupational therapy and function rehabilitation to complex trauma orthopaedic patient group.

Management of and complex inpatient caseload.

Delivery of therapy whilst taking into account the mental capacity act.

Contribute to the delivery and and development of the bracing and splinting service.

Contribute to the development of therapy workforce including supervision of staff and educating students.

Completion of non clinical tasks and roles to contribute towards the modernisation of the orthopaedic therapy service.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large Major Trauma Centre with over 16,000 staff working across the city in both hospital based services and community settings.

The Musculoskeletal Directorate (MSK) provide services including Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Pain Management, Metabolic Bone, Hand Centre, Physioworks, Staff Physiotherapy Service, MSK Hospital based Therapy Services and Podiatric Surgery.

The hospital based therapy team consists of over 110 whole time equivalent staff members who work together to deliver excellent patient care and sharing learning and experience.
