Full Job Description
Children & Young People's Services are seeking to recruit a Specialist Occupational Therapist into our CYPS mental health inpatient service. Working as a specialist OT with young people with a range of mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity. The successful candidate will provide expert occupational therapy knowledge and skills to a complex clinical population, provide leadership and clinical supervision to a team of occupational therapists and other professional/technical staff., The role will involve providing using specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and other related assessments. This is dependent upon the needs of young people, and treatment and recommendations for improving occupational performance in managing the demands of activities of daily living, daily routines and the impact of environmental factors. With working alongside the multi-disciplinary team members in devising care and treatment plans for meeting the occupational needs of young people.

The CYPS service has invested in occupational therapy service to develop each individual to specialise their OT skills and training. Specialist training relating to working with young people with trauma, sensory needs and occupational performance. Examples of past training, functional assessment in the Model of Human Occupation, sensory integration M1-M6 level and sensory integration attachment. The OT service hold regular CPD events to support staff through training, opportunities to share learning and a place to develop theory into practice. The OT services have OT and AHP away days to reflect, review and make changes to the service; using best evidence, governance guidelines and standards of practice.
CNTW CYPS service has the first established accredited specialist training which allows study to Degree level in subjects related to Children and Young People's Mental Health. Clinical staff are encouraged to participate in both training and delivery of training.
