Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing band 6 or experienced band 5 to join the Cardiology, Surgery, and Critical Care Team, based at City Hospital. This post is a 9 month fixed-term, full-time role to provide maternity cover. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a forward thinking and dynamic team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is committed to further improving their clinical skills, and providing quality care to patients. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of complex case management, rehabilitation skills, and leadership qualities. Stroke/neuro experience is essential for this role. The successful candidate will join a supportive and established team of occupational therapists and will have the opportunity to contribute to service develop and provide innovative practice. Areas covered include: cardiology, cardiac surgery, urology, infectious diseases, gynaecology, critical care, colorectal, hepatobiliary, and upper GI., Please refer to job description and person specification for full details. Within your role, duties will include but may not be limited to:

  • Supporting with allocation and prioritisation of caseloads
  • Complex case management and discharge planning
  • Goal setting and rehabilitation
  • Working as an integrated part of the MDT, across specialties, including joint working
  • Providing clinical support to members of the team
  • Providing supervision to more junior staff (e.g. band 5, support workers)
  • Supporting student placements
  • Promoting and support professional development of team members
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in all clinical areas
  • Working with band 7's and other senior staff to develop the service and encourage evidence based practice
  • Engaging in, and leading, in-service training, as well as providing education to wards and promotion of the OT role
  • Deputising for band 7's when required
  • Working flexibly - including weekend working

There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
