Full Job Description

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with mental Health experience to work within the Peterborough locality. They will be part of a Stepped care therapy team , working closely with an OT assistant and along side other mental health practitioners to deliver services to older people ( over 65) with mental health issues living in the community.

The post holder will hold a mixed caseload of people with either functional or dementia type conditions and will conduct functional assessment to inform formulation and deliver treatment plans that promote recovery and empower the individual patient . You will form a partnership with the patient and their carers to inform therapeutic goals. There is opportunity to deliver group interventions and oversee the delivery of sessions by the OT assistant , including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. There is a current network across the Service of Occupational therapists in similar roles who meet for professional development , as well as multi-disciplinary opportunities for continued professional development.

The Trust also offers Model of Human Occupation Case formulation and we are looking for an enthusiastic and confident therapist who enjoys a wide spectrum of mental health work ., In partnership with the individual, the Occupational Therapist maintains, restores or creates a match between the abilities of the person, the demands of his or her activities and occupations, and the demands of the environment to improve function and access to opportunities for participation in daily life.

The post holder will apply a high level of understanding of rehabilitation; provide the skilful use of specialist assessments, advice and interventions to support the client to engage in occupational activity and increase function. This will include providing specialist support, knowledge and advice to team members who have identified a client with dementia or other mental health conditions needs.

The post holder will provide specialist Occupational Therapy interventions underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation and the principles of recovery and enablement. Interventions will be delivered in a range of settings and include individual and group work.
