Specialist Occupational Therapist - Trauma Rotation

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a challenge?St George's Hospital is one of London's four Major Trauma Centres, caring for patients with a diverse range of life-changing injuries. The major traumarehabilitation service is a recognised and valued service at the Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic full-time Band 6 Occupational Therapistwith excellent communication and team working skills who can help us deliver high quality trauma rehabilitation. Opportunities:

• Develop advanced clinical skills and knowledge in the area of adult and paediatric major trauma.
• Participate in service development and audit
• Supervise students and Band 5 staff
• Develop teaching and leadership skills
• Work in a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team., Specialist therapy role providing daily support and supervision to occupational therapists working within in the team and across the wider Trust
Specialist assessment and treatment of complex clinical caseload and supports other team members with their treatment plans and clinical reasoning to facilitate safe and timely discharge. Organises and provides clinical supervision, teaching, completion of audit and service improvement projects. Assists with programme for occupational therapy student placements- annual review and planning of placements, including allocation and induction.

We provide regular supervision, peer support and access to clinical specialist staff, as well as promoting continuing professional development. The major trauma rotation includes posts in:
• Trauma & Orthopaedics
• Neurosurgery
• Hand Therapy
• Paediatrics
• RAAR (Rapid Access Acute Rehab)
Rotations are for a 12 month period. St George's delivers a high-quality therapy service over 7 days. After training, you will be required to participate in a weekend rota aligned to your clinical area which involves working a weekend shift approximately once every 6 weeks with compensatory rest days.
