Specialist Oral Surgeon (Maternity Cover)

An opportunity has come up for a part time (0.8WTE) post commencing December 2024 for a Maternity Specialist Oral Surgeon at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a responsibility for paediatric oral surgery lists., Clinical Service

The department is looking to recruit a part time (0.8WTE) Specialist in Oral Surgery. The department would consider a job share arrangement. The successful candidate(s) will be fully integrated into the departmental clinics and out-patient treatment lists as well as involvement with theatres. There is no on call requirement for this post.

Out-patient Department: The role will contain routine attendance of new and follow up clinics for Oral Surgery patient care. There is a wide variety of pathologies treated within the department (cleft, orthognathic, salivary gland, oral medicine etc.) and the opportunity to be present at multi-disciplinary meetings and clinics.

The successful candidate will perform independent minor operations under local anaesthesia, plus intravenous sedation.

Theatre: General anaesthetic lists may be available to undertake surgical treatment, including treatment of impacted and ectopic teeth.

Leadership: The post holder will have a responsibility for paediatric oral surgery lists.

We are looking for a dynamic, keen clinician to join the Oral, OMF Surgery and Orthodontic teams. The unit provides a comprehensive range of services including oral surgery, orthodontics, cleft, implant rehabilitation, orthognathic surgery and maxillofacial surgery, with the exception of major head and neck oncology. The unit includes a Cone Beam CT scanner and intra-oral scanners.

Entry on the GDC Register for Oral Surgery is a requirement for this post. All applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) or eligible for relevant visa application.
