Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist in Neurodisability Movement disorderFixed until October 2025,

  • To undertake all aspects of your clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work.
  • To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organize this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through reflective practice and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities by keeping up to date with current clinical practice and new developments and incorporate them as necessary into your work
  • To undertake reflective practice and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development commensurate with your level.
  • To represent the trust externally (locally, regionally and nationally) regarding physiotherapy services provided to patients within their clinical area. This should take into account interagency and interdisciplinary issues.
  • To work with the NDS MDT and the clinical specialists in Neurodisability in developing the physiotherapy service
  • In conjunction with the Band 8 Physiotherapists, to be responsible for developing & providing specialised teaching to peers & junior staff including medical staff; this will frequently include work observation by staff both within & outside the trust & may include large multidisciplinary groups.

    The Neurodisability service at GOSH provides a range of highly specialist multidisciplinary outpatient assessment clinics - including spasticity management and rare and complex condition diagnosis & management. We have a busy botulinum toxin programme, and selective dorsal rhizotomy service (SDR) with inpatient neurorehabilitation. Referrals are both regional and national.The team is looking for a paediatric physiotherapist (PT) with experience & skills in neurodisability assessment and movement disorders rehabilitation management to join them.
  • The service provides teaching to undergraduate PTs and training medical colleagues.This post will provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment across the service as part of a multi-disciplinary set up, so strong interpersonal & communication skills are essential. You will be required to contribute to advisory reports and liaise with local teams, and as such previous experience in spasticity management, rehabilitation, neurodisability community working with families, carers and schools, paediatric orthopaedics and neurodevelopment is required.
