Full Job Description

We are advertising a fixed term or secondment opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our established team working in the South of Nottinghamshire. The Clinical Nurse Specialist role provides expert symptom management and psychological support to patients and those important to them. Based within local health centre, and joining the wider specialist palliative care services from John Eastwood Hospice and Hayward House you will provide expert clinical support and advice to patients in their own home. The location of the role is subject to successful appointment but is likely to be in the Rushcliffe area of South Nottinghamshire. You will join a team of 6 nurse specialists working under the clinical leadership of Consultants in Palliative Medicine., As a specialist in palliative care you will provide expert clinical support to patients and those important to them, predominantly in the community setting. This will include management of pain and symptom control as well as psychological support and care in the last days of life.
As an expert in your field you will also support the delivery of a portfolio of training and education to staff in all settings. This will include direct teaching and shadowing and peer support.

The successful candidate will be forward thinking and passionate about palliative care.
You will have excellent communication and influencing skills and be confident at undertaking holistic assessments and making recommendations for care based on expert knowledge and skill.
You will be able to work in pressured environments with frequent exposure to emotional distress and death and dying.
We are particularly interested to receive applications from professionals with a background in urgent and acute care, elderly medicine and broader non malignant disease.
