Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist education and training pharmacist role within the Pharmacy team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. This role is a vital post within a dedicated education and training team, to ensure that we continue to offer high quality development and training to all our staff, including undergraduates, pharmacy, nursing and medical staff.
We are a progressive department and are keen to embrace innovative ideas. Following significant investment, our pharmacy department has led on innovations in automated medicines storage across all acute clinical areas with improved drug security and medicines administration safety processes. Robotic dispensing is well established and we have successfully implemented Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration throughout the Trust.
We are currently planning our new service model to provide pharmacy services to the brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital as we provide a seven day service to the Trust., You will lead on the development and delivery of teaching for the pharmacy Foundation Year Trainee programme to ensure that all components are delivered to the appropriate syllabuses and standards, supporting practical application of theoretical clinical knowledge.
You will also be part of the pharmacy department training team, to support the training and education programme for all clinical staff across the Trust. This includes leading on portfolio and programme development for our well established STEP programmes for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, nurse preceptorship programmes and clinical training for medical staff.
You will also be expected to support clinical pharmacy services within the Trust on a sessional basis and act as a role model, with associated senior pharmacist duties within the department.
