Full Job Description

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Pharmacy Department are looking for a Pharmacist with a diploma in clinical pharmacy, studying towards a diploma or with equivalent qualification to join our expanding clinical team who will take lead responsibility to support and implement quality-driven Clinical Pharmacy Services within the speciality of acute medicine to the Trust. This is an established post fully integrated into the short stay unit which work together to provide the best possible medicines optimisation outcomes for our acute medical patients throughout their stay., The post holder will work closely with the well-established multidisciplinary team on the short stay unit. This will ensure treatments used in this specialist area are safe, effective, prudent, patient-centred and efficient. The post holder will promote appropriate and cost-effective prescribing in collaboration with the Medical Consultants and specialist nurses. You will participate in drug usage analysis, identification of budget pressures arising from new products, co-ordination of projects and audits and the development and maintenance of guidelines, policies and protocols relating to acute medicine., If this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Please note if applicable, applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. If you have not already done so, you are therefore encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service to which a small annual fee of £13 per year applies. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, enthusiastic, adaptable, able to work both as a team member and as an individual. Ideally you will have some experience of mentoring junior pharmacists and trainees. Participation in teaching , clinical audit and practice research is encouraged and will be supported. The post involves participation in the late night and weekend rota, and in the emergency on-call rota (approximate frequency 1 in 20). The post holder will be based at Southport District General Hospital but may be required to work at other Trust sites on occasion.
