This post includes inpatient, outpatient and community work, travelling to patients' homes in a wide regional area.

Following service changes, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic B6 Physiotherapist to join our adult Cystic Fibrosis team, at University Hospital Southampton. The Wessex Adult Cystic Fibrosis service at Southampton cares for approximately 300 adults with CF., The post holder will be expected to engage in research as appropriate, as well as regular clinical audits, and maintain skills and knowledge to implement evidence-based practice. The role will require teaching undergraduate students, as well as providing specialist advice to colleagues.

We are looking for a dynamic Physiotherapist to assist with strategic development of the therapy service for Wessex regional adult Cystic Fibrosis. This post offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop clinical and managerial skills within this speciality and oversee the development of others.

This post holder, along with existing staff, will be based within Southampton General Hospital, however, will also be required to work off site undertaking admission prevention, individual support within patients' homes, or nearer a patient's geographical locality. Please ensure you would be able to undertake the community aspects of the work, as you need to be able to travel to and from patient homes, and other hospital sites as part of this role, as well as transport large pieces of equipment.

The successful applicant should have relevant postgraduate respiratory/Cystic Fibrosis clinical experience, with a desire to develop their knowledge and skills further. Support will be given towards continual learning and professional development.

This role involves working closely with our regional multi-professional Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team and is supported by a Clinical Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis. Your clinical remit would involve the treatment of both acute inpatients and outpatients attending our multi-professional Cystic fibrosis clinics and working in the community. Attendance at regional meetings may also be required.

What we're looking for

The post holder will be expected to lead the therapy team in the absence of the Band 8/7s, be involved in the teaching programme, service development, student supervision and the development of Band 3-5 therapy staff. All staff are expected to work flexibly to support a 7-day service.,

  • Qualified Physiotherapist with experience in treating patients with cystic fibrosis and acute

  • respiratory conditions.
  • HCPC registered.

  • Evidence of experience using specialist respiratory equipment, such as invasive and non-

  • invasive ventilators, and cough assist.
  • Evidence of experience doing shifts within an acute respiratory on-call out of hours service -

  • including intensive care, both adults and children.
  • Experience as a student supervisor.

  • Clear desire for wanting to work in CF respiratory at UHS given in your application form.

  • Clear knowledge of NHS systems, evident in application form

  • Good written and verbal communication.

    We run a 7-day therapy service so weekend working and bank holiday cover, on a roster basis, will be expected as part of your working hours. This role also includes acute respiratory on-call shifts.
