Full Job Description

Are you an experienced physiotherapist looking for your next challenge? Do you enjoy the fast-paced nature of acute therapy? Do you want the opportunity to work at a large Teaching Hospital trust? Then look no further, we have the opportunity that is right for you.

This is the first time we have had such a wide variety of Band 6 Rotations at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, the opportunity has been developed to broaden the experience available to you at Band 6. We currently have the core inpatient rotations like Stroke, Orthopaedics, Medical Rehab and Vascular as well as also being able to offer opportunities in the community; in RAPID assessment and Home First services.

We are working hard to grow the opportunities in the General Rotations and are hopeful that we will soon be adding opportunities in Neurosciences, Critical Care, Major Trauma, Oncology and Acute Assessment and Frailty.

The rotations are 6 months long giving your plenty of time to get stuck in, whilst also building on your experience with a variety of opportunities. We pride ourselves on being rehab legends and providing the best possible care for our patients whilst increasing their independence.

So what does a normal day look like? It'll start with a morning board round with the MDT to identify patients appropriate for therapy. Once you've prioritised your day you'll be able to crack on with the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of a variety of patients with complex needs. We think setting SMART goals is really important for the patients we are rehabilitating so that's something you'll be involved in too.

We are an integrated team so it's likely that you'll be spending time with the Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants in your area of work. Our Therapy Assistants are the perfect people to continue any exercise programmes you have put into place.

Service and personal development is pretty important to us too. We havea comprehensive in-house Neuro teaching programme which you can attend as well asopportunities and support to consolidate knowledge and skills to allow competent respiratory and on-call working through a blended learning individualised training programme, to maintain and build confidence in supporting the on-call physiotherapy service.

We have 9000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You'll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you'd never have done. You'll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You'll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.

We know we are biased, but we really want to convey this is a fabulous opportunity, in which you will be fully supported by the existing therapy teams and the Professional Leads.

You will have excellent communication skills to enhance your working relationships and interactions with patients as well as a strong rehabilitation focus. You should have clinical experience of working with complex patients and have the skills to provide acute assessments, deliver effective treatment plans and to complete complex discharge planning. Theability to complete effective and regular liaison and joint working with the MDT including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, medics, psychology, community and voluntary services would be really beneficial too.

When you're not treating patients you'll have the opportunity to provide supervision and appraisal to our Band 5 colleagues, Therapy Assistants and Students. There is also a Band 6 Physiotherapy forum that meets each month that provides a safe space for discussion with your peers as well as presentations and training from a range of speakers. We work in a fast paced environment and can promise that you'll never be bored or short of things to do!
