Full Job Description

We are looking for a caring, experienced, creative and dynamic physiotherapist to fulfil the role of rotational specialist band 6 physiotherapist within the inpatient team.
This role will cover a range of clinical area including: Trauma and Orthopaedics, ICU/Surgery, Elderly care and Frailty, Acute Medicine including acute neuro management and finally Acute respiratory.
We have a team of skilled and experienced band 6 physiotherapists who provide peer support with monthly meetings and are included in leadership and development training programmes.
Each of the above areas is lead by an experienced Advanced physiotherapist team leader, with whom the band 6's work closely identifying areas for service development.
Rotations are currently for a period of 9 months with some flexibility for discussion around service and individual development needs.
This post is based at RLI.
This is a patient facing role with the primary responsibility for overseeing the daily clinical provision of physiotherapy within a particular clinical area. This includes the assessment of patients, development of goals and plans, providing the required treatment and contributing to the MDT for discharge planning.
Due to the format of the interview process physical attendance at the assessment centre is required. There will not be an option for a teams remote interview.

Main duties of the job
The role will include the provision of clinical training and support for other physiotherapists within the team and to take an active part in In-Service Training (IST) and external education in line with Continual Professional Development (CPD) Care Group Guidelines thus maintaining standards of care in line with evidence based practice. It is also expected that any external training attended will be disseminate to the wider team.
It is expected that this role will to be a full and active participant with over night on-call and respiratory weekend services. Acute respiratory experience including on-call and weekend working is essential for this role.
Communication skills and MDT working experience are essential to facilitate ongoing developments with integrated working.
The individual needs to be able to respond well to difficult situations, have an awareness of safeguarding, be hardworking and have a problem solving approach.
This role will include the supervision and support of junior staff including the completion of inductions, Appraisals and the supervision and training of both junior staff and students.
The individual will be responsible for their own clinical record keeping, including hand-written and electronic data recording, in accordance with Trust, Care Group and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists standards.

Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
