Full Job Description

We are excited to announce this new post for the CAMHs learning disability services in Wandsworth. Children and young people referred to the Learning Disability service have moderate to profound learning disabilities compounded by trauma, mental health difficulties and/or complex and challenging behaviour.
The work will include assessing and understanding complex and challenging behaviour, understanding and implementing positive behavioural approaches and therapeutic strategies, providing recommendations and reviewing these with the child/young person, family and network.

We have career pathways available, where you will be able to develop your skills and build on your experience., The post holder will provide specialist behavioural assessments and interventions to children and young people. This will involve undertaking direct assessment and intervention with the client and indirect assessment, monitoring and intervention with staff and/or carers. Interventions will include working across a variety of settings, including home, school and short break services and will involve working with the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will work autonomously alongside clients, families, support workers and professionals to enable others to better understand and respond to behaviours that are challenging, + The post holder will contribute to the provision of a specialist Challenging Behaviour input for children and young people within the Wandsworth CAMHS services. The post will sit within the CAMHS LD service and will see children with moderate to profound learning disabilities with/without autism and children and young people in tier 3 CAMHS whom may also have autism and mild learning disabilities.
+ The post holder will provide specialist behavioural assessments and interventions to children and young people. This will involve undertaking direct assessment and intervention with the client and indirect assessment, monitoring and intervention with staff and/or carers. Interventions will include working across a variety of settings, including home, school and short break services and will involve working with the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will work autonomously alongside clients, families, support workers and professionals to enable others to better understand and respond to behaviours that are challenging in line with PBS principles, Positive & Proactive Care: reducing the need for restrictive interventions (2014) and NICE Guidance (including NG11 & NG93).
+ The post holder will work with wider stakeholders to deliver on the Transforming Care Agenda. They will provide strategic input to the team's Pathways and undertake an influential role in shaping the team's approach to working with behaviours that challenge. The post holder will be required to supervise staff as requested to by the CAMHS LD service manager. They will use research skills to carry out audits, service evaluations and research activities relevant to the service.
+ The post holder will be required to contribute to the effective running of the CAMHS LD service, delivering, or advising on the delivery of, high quality care and ensuring consistently high standards of practice. They will be required to contribute to effective multidisciplinary team working ensuring that care is delivered in a holistic way that involves service users and carers.
+ The post holder will have at least two years of qualified experience in working with individuals whose behaviour challenges service. Experience of a range of specialist behavioural assessment and interventions with clients with learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges services, across the full range of care settings. Experience of supporting families and working with individuals with autistic spectrum disorders

We are looking for someone with at least two years qualified experience in challenging behaviour who:
+ Has experience of working with children and young people
+ Skills in the use of functional assessment, intervention and management
+ Skills and ability to communicate in a variety of ways and within a range of networks
+ Likes a challenge and works well in a team
