Full Job Description

We are on the lookout for a substantive Band 7 to join our team in the Norfolk and Waveney Advice, Support and Access Children and Young people's Mental Health Service.

The Advice, Support and Access service launched 6 months ago and provides a single point of access for mental health support for the Norfolk and Waveney region for children and young people aged 0 up to 25yrs.

Our aim is to find the right support, the right resources and the right services for our young people, when they or there carers reach out for support.

This offers the right candidate an opportunity to hone skills in the triage of mental health referrals, explore and link with other statutory and non-statutory services, and work with a dedicated and supportive team.

The Mental Health access team works within the wider offer of the Just One Number service, a single point of access for the Health Child Service and the Speech and language therapy, this provides us with a huge array of expertise and a proven track record of providing excellent and timely advice guidance and routes to interventions, our work is underpinned by Just One Norfolk web site, our evidence based digital support and resources.

A unique opportunity to join an award-winning service as it grows to support children and young people's mental health services locally, your expertise will help us to shape the service and allow you to develop skills navigating a referral to the right service, supporting other clinicians and liaising with the whole Mental Health services to build an integrated network of support and intervention.

The strength of the team is how it shares expertise with a wide range of clinicians and there is an expectation that you would be based at our offices in Norwich., The mental health element of Just One Number opens Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and Successful applicants will be expected to work a rotating weekly shift pattern, comprising of an 8 am - 4pm shift one week and 10 am - 6pm the alternate week.

To have a high level of clinical expertise in the mental and emotional health needs of children, young people, and their families, (covering 0-25 years of age) and be able to complete full assessments via telephone and other forms of digital technology which enable high level and timely clinical decisions to be made.

To take accountability for clinical decisions and demonstrate a high level of clinical judgement, to work autonomously and ensure appropriate action is taken when clinical risks are identified by self or team member and that the escalation process is followed appropriately.

To be a key clinical point of contact for other members of the skill mix team working within Just One Number (JON), offering excellent teaching and clinical supervision to develop needs-led, evidence-based care that supports local and national priorities and policies as well as relevant clinical guidelines.

To have a robust understanding of local emotional health provision and be able to give children, young people and their families and referrers appropriate advice and guidance and as needed make appropriate referrals and support colleagues to make referrals to the appropriate service.

To have excellent clinical skills and knowledge of child and young people's mental health needs and local services. This will involve assessment (including risk assessment) and care planning, with children, young people, parents, teachers and being an active link for other stakeholders such as schools, GPs, mental health and voluntary sector organisations.

To have the clinical skills and confidence to support colleagues within Just One Number, especially in assessment of current need, risk and care planning.

Contribute to production and maintenance of digital resources and promotion of these within JON and with other stakeholders - allowing the identification of appropriate use of self-help material and understanding when further clinical assessment is indicated.

Use of measures to monitor effectiveness and establish outcomes and share these within JON, CCS and NSFT.

Uphold the professional code of conduct for the Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor, including maintaining confidentiality and maintaining registration in line with the NMC or appropriate governing body.

Follow the robust clinical risk management processes that are in place and contribute to ensuring they are adhered to within JON.
