Full Job Description

This is an opportunity for a practitioner psychologist to join the Health Psychology Service in a permanent within the Weight Management Service within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. If you're passionate about the NHS and want a role that involves supporting people living with obesity to manage their weight and improve their health, this is the role for you. You will be delivering both individual and group interventions using evidence based psychological models. You will be working alongside and supervised by a Principal Clinical Psychologist and other members of the MDT, including physiotherapists, dietitians, and medical staff. There will be opportunities for research and service evaluation within this friendly team. You must be willing to travel as we work at numerous locations across an expansive and beautiful geographical area from the coast to the mountains. The post holder will join the rapidly developing, supportive and dynamic Health Psychology Service with like-minded psychology colleagues working in various specialties across the lifespan. The Health Psychology Service is growing rapidly with current posts in a number of additional services including cancer/palliative care, cardiac rehabilitation, critical care, neuropsychology, Paediatrics and employee well-being, plus future developments in additional specialties.Main duties of the job To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to Adult Weight Management Service covering the Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend areas. The service is based in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital, with interventions delivered across multiple sites across the health board patch and remotely. The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and treatment at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines. This post will also offer the opportunity for you to develop your supervision skills by assisting the senior psychologist with the provision of psychological supervision to the assistant psychologist and wider multi-disciplinary team, and to utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service. The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary adult weight management team, contributing to the activities and developments across the teams, and To participate appropriately in the professional activities of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Clinical Health Psychology specialty. To participate in the development of up to date understanding and experience of professional issues and current NHS strategy in Clinical Health Psychology.
