Full Job Description
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work within the LD CAMHS service in Durham and Darlington. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will work across both North and South Durham bases., The successful applicant will be expected to carry out clinical work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing specialist assessment to children and young people within the Learning Disabilities CAMHS service. You will be professionally accountable for own caseload, working autonomously in a variety of community settings including the children and young people's own homes.
You will confidently be able to develop and implement treatment programmes and provide advice to children and young people and their parent/carers with mental health and/or learning disabilities and associated complex communication difficulties across a diverse range of presentations. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of the children and young people are maintained at all times and that care is delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice by all members of the team.
You will provide clinical supervision to speech and language therapy staff and students and facilitate others within the team to develop competence by providing clinical leadership and specialist clinical advice on more complex cases.
