Full Job Description

We currently have a vacancy for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our inpatient team on a permanent basis.

This post is suitable for an SLT who has experience in working with adults in an acute setting and who would like to develop their skills further in this area. The Speech and Language Therapy department is forward-thinking with new and ongoing projects, monthly CPD (continuing professional development) sessions and support for progression of competencies.

In this role you will be working across multiple different specialities including Respiratory, Older Person's Unit, Haematology and Oncology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Surgery, and Medicine. You will also be required to provide support to the Acute Stroke and Neurology wards as needed., You will be providing specialist Speech and Language Therapy input for a caseload of inpatients with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties. This includes assessment and differential diagnosis, delivering intervention and rehabilitation, reviewing outcomes, and ensuring appropriate onward referral to community services.

We work closely within the multi-disciplinary team and have well-established links with Therapy, Nursing and Medical colleagues. We are looking for an SLT with excellent communication skills and an empathetic approach.

The SLT team has an established video-fluoroscopy clinic and Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing service. We are dedicated to developing skills across the team and supporting progression of all members.
