Full Job Description
Do you have experience of working within an educational setting and delivering a therapy service at universal, targeted and specialist level, ensuring that the needs of the pupil, staff and school are considered and met? Can you manage your own case load work, autonomously contributing to service development with a commitment to a holistic, flexible and innovative model of service delivery? We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Maternity Cover to join our therapy team working across several consortia groups of mainstream schools in Liverpool and Sefton, providing speech and language therapy advice, assessment, interventions and training. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to meet the needs of the young people we support. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing a clinical caseload of students, working in collaboration with teachers, class teams and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Supporting students' communication skills across the school and learning environment; delivering indirect and direct interventions, whether individually or in small groups.
- Assessing, monitoring and recording students' progress with respect to their development in all areas of speech, language and communication.
- Liaising with parents, families and carers, and advising on issues relating to the development of speech, language and other communication skills.
- Providing clinical supervision to more junior Speech and Language Therapy colleagues, Therapy Assistants and Therapy service volunteers as required.
- Contributing to the planning and delivery of training to colleagues across the whole school as required.
- Assisting in the process of monitoring, evaluating and recording pupil's progress.
- Providing assessment reports and intervention plans for individual pupils., Promotion of Wellbeing across the organisation including Mental Health First Aiders offering wellbeing support from trained colleague and free weekly yoga session in person or online

- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy including current registration with RCSLT and the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary manner with the ability to modify a range of therapy programmes and interventions.
- Experience of working in Special Educational and Clinical settings.
- Experience of working with young people and adults with complex needs including Autism ad ADHD.
- Experience of modifying therapy programmes and interventions to meet the need of individual young people.
- Full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work related travel.
