The Specialist Stroke Rehabilitation Unit offers residents of Gloucestershire a dedicated Therapy Led service. This could be a Band 5 developmental role subject to discussions at interview stage.
The post-may include 11.25 hours with the countywide Community Neurology Service.
Adopting national best practice this unit ensures that people suffering from a stroke will benefit from the clinical pathway, maximising the health outcomes of those people who are likely to improve with in-patient specialist rehabilitation. There will be close collaborative working with colleagues in the Acute Stroke setting and community teams.
We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician to work in this friendly and collaborative multi-disciplinary team who shares a philosophy of empowering patients to be more independent and active in their recovery. You will be committed to developing your own expertise but also support other colleagues to continually develop and grow their own skills through clinical, managerial and peer supervision alongside appraisal., + To provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment, diagnosis and treatment to Stroke patients with communication and swallowing disorders in the community stroke unit.
+ To work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team contributing to the holistic management and rehabilitation of the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) caseload.
+ To support the Therapy Lead in service development, evaluation and quality initiatives in line with local and national drivers.
+ To support the Therapy Lead in adhering to national and local standards set out for Stroke and rehabilitation.
To provide professional support and advice to therapy, nursing and medical staff acting as a clinical resource for speech and language therapy in the specialist area of Stroke
To provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment, diagnosis and treatment to Stroke patients with communication and swallowing disorders in the community stroke unit.

Salary Update
With effect from 1 April 2024, there is a 5.5 per cent consolidated uplift for all Agenda for Change (AfC) staff on NHS terms and conditions. This may change the salary that is advertised on this advert.
The national NHS Employers team are working through the processes required to implement the recently announced new Agenda for Change pay award for 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025. The related national Pay Advisory Notice (which confirms the details including dates) is yet to be issued to employers.
