Full Job Description

We have a great opportunity to join the Dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter's Hospital on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave. We have a vacancy for a part-time (0.6 WTE) Band 6 Surgical Dietitian, fixed term for 12 months. The successful candidate will be part of the Surgical and Gastroenterology Dietetics team and will be involved in delivering specialist inpatient and outpatient services to our patients.

The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team of 6 surgical dietitians, ACP and a dietetic support worker. This role offers a wide range of benefits including the opportunity for flexible working, as well as a range of professional development opportunities., This post involves managing an inpatient caseload on the Surgical wards as well as a monthly specialist outpatient clinic. The successful candidate will work closely with MDT colleagues including consultants,surgeons and specialist nurses. Clinical areas covered include: upper GI, lower GI, gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, pancreatic disease, complex oral and enteral nutrition support. There will an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in parenteral nutrition and critical care.

In addition to clinical work, the post holder will have the opportunity to develop supervision skills by supporting junior staff and students, to actively participate in service improvement and audit and the opportunity to develop and deliver new ways of working.

Team working, excellent communication and prioritisation skills are essential.
